I am letting you know about a neat opportunity available to students within the TAMU system to be able to spend a semester in Washington D.C. as part of the Public Policy Scholars Program. One of our TLS students is currently there for the Fall term, along with 2 other students from ETAMU, with 2 more students accepted to attend in the Spring. This program is not associated with TLS, but as leaders and individuals invested in your future I thought some of you may be interested. Information from Arthur Lumzy in our Career Center is below:
Are you ready to take your college experience beyond the classroom and make an impact on a national level? The Public Policy Scholars Program (PPSP) gives Texas A&M University System students the opportunity to live, learn and intern in our nation’s capital while gaining firsthand experience in the policy-making process.
Whether you’re studying political science, agriculture, engineering, business, communications, international affairs or something completely different, there’s a place for you in PPSP.
What does PPSP offer?
Students from all 12 Texas A&M University System universities are encouraged to apply. Those selected for the program receive:
- 6–12 hours of in-person academic credit
- A part-time internship in Washington, D.C. (15–20 hours per week)
- Free housing in Washington, D.C.
- Professional development and individualized support
- The opportunity to build your résumé, expand your professional network and gain real-world policy experience
Most importantly, PPSP gives you the chance to put what you’re learning into action. You’ll spend a semester in Washington, D.C., working alongside professionals and organizations engaged in the policy-making process while representing both your home institution and the Texas A&M University System.
You don’t have to be a policy major to make an impact on policy. You just have to be ready to get involved.
Ready to take the next step?
The Fall 2027 application deadline is Monday, October 26, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Learn more about the Public Policy Scholars Program and download the application at the PPSP website. We hope to see you at the information session and look forward to receiving your application!
Thank you,
