2023-2024 Workshop/Presentation Request Form

The office of Intercultural Engagement & Leadership provides a range of educational programs that help individuals develop leadership skills, cultural competency, and build community all while learning more about organizational change, social justice and service.


To request a workshop or presentation for your class, department, student organization, or residents please review and complete this form at least 2 weeks prior to the date/s requesting and allow 3 business days for your request to be processed.   • A minimum of 8 participants are required and all workshops/trainings have a maximum capacity to allow full participation.
  • Not all workshops are eligible for all participants.
  • All trainings/workshops for students are facilitated separately from faculty/staff and community to allow full participation with an exception for students that hold Graduate Assistant or Teacher Assistant titles.

2022-2023 WORKSHOP/TRAININGS

Safe Spaces

(90 min-120 min)
This training focuses on the education and training needed to contribute to a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community on our campus. Individuals will walk away with an awareness of personal ideas, verbiage, services, resources, and inclusive strategies that build a network of community and campus staff, faculty and students that support people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.
Offered: in-person for students, faculty/staff and community only (a minimum of 8 participants are required and a maximum of 25)

UndocuAlly

(120 min)
This training gives you an overview look at the U.S. immigration system and what navigating that system and higher education means for Undocumented and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students. You will walk away with intentional ally strategies and resources to support the undocumented community through learning objectives that challenge the current narrative around immigration.
Offered: in-person for students, faculty/staff and community only (a minimum of 8 participants are required and a maximum of 25)

Discovering Your True Colors (WIP)

(120 min)
This interactive workshop helps participants explore their own distinctive personality strengths & stressors, learn to respect & appreciate differences in the ways people function & lays the foundation for relationship-building, effective communication & teambuilding.
Offered: in-person for students, faculty/staff and community only (a minimum of 8 participants are required and a maximum of 25)

Social Justice 101

(45 min-60 min)
This introductory workshop focuses on defining power, privilege, opression and other common terminology. Through engaging acitivites, individuals will walk away with their personal definition of social justice and a commitment to action.
Offered: in-person for students and faculty/staff only (a minimum of 8 participants are required and a maximum of 40)

Intersectionality 101

(45 min-60 min)
This interactive workshop discusses how systems of oppression based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, class and other forms of identity “intersect” to create unique dynamics and effects. Participants will learn key terms and concepts to build an active consciousness of intersectionality as part of their everyday practice.
Offered: in-person for students and faculty/staff only (a minimum of 8 participants are required and a maximum of 40)

Feminist Leadership

(45 min-60 min)
In this workshop we will look at the concepts of traditional leadership vs feminist leadership and challenge the leadership binary. Individuals will walk away with strategies to foster healthy leadership through co-mentoring, collaboration, social change and self-care/squad-care.

Recognizing and Responding to Microaggressions

(45 min-60 min)
This session will introduce participants to the concept of microaggressions and how they affect individuals across different identities. Participants will explore the importance of addressing microaggressions and identify effective strategies for doing so. Facilitators will focus on problem-solving and help participants develop new strategies, both for allies trying to disrupt microaggressions and for those experiencing them.

Sitting with Privilege

(45 min-60 min)
This workshop uses kindness, humor and critical reflection to explore ideas of power, privilege and oppression and their impact on our society. The facilitator will draw on examples from pop culture and everyday life to deepen understanding. Through a collaborative learning approach, the workshop will enable participants to build connections with others who are interested in developing an awareness of privilege and allyship.

Why Should I Vote?

(60 min)
This workshop focuses on educating individual on why it is important to vote. Also help individuals understand the process to voting from registration to voting. Individual will walk away with understanding the importance behind voting and why they should participant and even their local elections.

Building your Leadership Philosophy

(60 min)
Your leadership philosophy is how you view yourself in the role of a leader. In this workshop individuals will leave this workshop a better understanding of themselves as a leader. At the end will leave with a leadership philosophy, can guided them as the mange there day-to-day life.
Offered: in-person for students only (a minimum of 8 participants are required and a maximum of 25)

Break Down the Ballot

(60 min)
This workshop focuses on developing an understanding of what civic engagement is and why it's important. Individuals will walk away with the knowledge and resources to be more informed and confident in navigating state, national and local elections.

Imposter Syndrome

(45 min-60 min)
This workshop focuses on demistifying imposter syndrome and learn ways you can support and encourage yourself. Imposter Syndrome is the persistent inability to believe that one's success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of one's own efforts or skills.

Goal Setting

(45 min-60 min)
Are you thinking S.M.A.R.T? This workshop focuses on setting specific goals personally, professionally and academically.

Diversifying Your Narrative

(45 min-60 min)
In this interactive workshop individuals will engage in dialgue that challenges one to think about different perspective as they relate to diversity, equity and inclusion. Individuals will walk away with an understanding of implicit and explicit bias and reflect on how they impact an individuals experience.
