Alpha Phi is one of the few Panhellenic sororities to have its own foundation. Alpha Phi officially adopted Women’s Heart Health as a priority in 1946, which became the Foundation’s philanthropic cause upon its founding in 1956.
Alpha Phi helps support this cause in many ways, most importantly through the Heart to Heart grant, a $100,000 contribution given by the Alpha Phi Foundation to organizations that are doing innovative research in improving women’s heart health. Money from the Alpha Phi Foundation also provides need and merit-based scholarships and grants for our sisters, as well as fully-funded leadership opportunities.
At East Texas A&M, Alpha Phi hosts numerous events throughout the school year to not only make an impact with the Alpha Phi Foundation, but in our community as well. These events include a blood drive to serve North/East Texans, a pageant-style event called Mr. Heartthrob to raise awareness about heart health, and our largest event, Red Dress, where the ultimate goal is to gather with friends, family, students, and faculty to fundraise for the Foundation!
